Up for the Crown: Emma Watson

The one and only Hermione Granger... Oops! I mean Emma Watson is taking a major leap into the fashion industry by collaborating with Italian designer, Alberta Ferretti. The clothing collection, Pure Threads, is going to be sold through People Tree who is known for their ethical clothing. This will be Emma's third collection for the company- which debuted in February 2011. Emma has stated, "I will put it out there that I will work for anyone for free if they are prepared to make their clothing fair trade organic." She is extremely hands-on in the entire process, even traveling to Bangladesh to oversee production and the fabrication process. [You can see the video I included below!] Emma’s role consists of repping the line, appearing in People Tree ad campaigns, and forming the silhouettes of the garments. Personally, I think the collection is super cute especially with patterns including florals, polka-dots, checks, and gingham. All clothing is eco-friendly and is composed of hand-woven fabrics, 100% organic Fair-trade certified cotton, silk, and of course other organic materials in India, Bangladesh and Nepal. The collection is mainly focused on girls, but there are some clothes for guys as well. The collection has dresses, shirts, bottoms, accessories, and nightwear. Emma describes the line as being “very classic, ‘60s” style. Emma Watson has been a trend setter/fashion icon for quite a while now so I am completely happy with her being part of this collection. I give Pure Threads five out of five crowns because I think it is for a great cause, raising awareness of organic and Fair-trade certified products, and is worth the extra money. Plus the clothes are absolutely ADORABLE!
